Dr. Küchler began his professional career in 1986 at EDS. There, he initially served as an account. In 1995, he became a member of the EDS management team in Germany and assumed responsibility for German industrial and government customers. In September 2000, Dr. Küchler joined Lufthansa Systems and took over the management of its subsidiary Lufthansa Systems Infratec GmbH.

Since January 1, 2017, Dr. Gunter Küchler has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Apiida AG.
